Four wings of clear iridescent glass, each cut and shaped by hand, meet a slender coloured-glass body wrapped in copper foil and soldered, then decorated with wire. Iridescent glass is unpredictable to cut - its shimmering surface coating varies across every sheet - which means each dragonfly's wings carry their own pattern of colour-shift.
That coating is what makes this piece special in a window. As the sun moves, the wings flash soft pinks, greens and golds that aren't really ‘in’ the glass at all — they appear and vanish with the angle of the light, exactly the way realdragonfly wings do.
Available with a body in various colours, and hung from a fine loop. A lovely piece for a kitchen or bathroom window, and a favourite gift for gardeners and pond-watchers.
